Encrypting a PDF with a password and restricting a PDF are different things with very different security strength. This tool applies the first: it encrypts the entire file with a user password, making the bytes unreadable without that password. The second — "no printing," "no copying" — are only flags in the file that a polite PDF reader chooses to honour. Many readers ignore them entirely, so calling them "protection" is misleading.

How secure is an AES-128 password on a PDF?
AES-128 is cryptographically strong — the security comes down to password strength. An 8-character password with lowercase only is weak and can be brute-forced in hours. A 12+ character password mixing uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols is effectively unbreakable by brute force. The algorithm itself will not fail; a weak password will.
Can you stop someone printing a PDF if you don't set permission flags?
Not with this tool, and not reliably with any tool. Print and copy restrictions are flags a PDF reader is asked to respect, and plenty of readers simply ignore them, so they stop honest people rather than determined ones. This tool sets no such flags. Yes, slightly. Encryption adds metadata to the PDF (encryption dictionary, user and owner password hashes, and file ID). The increase is usually under 1KB, so a 10MB PDF stays roughly 10MB. The actual content is padded to AES block boundaries (16 bytes), adding negligible overhead.
