PDF vectors become pixels, permanently
A PDF is a vector document — text stays text, shapes scale without loss. When you convert it to an image, every page becomes a rasterized picture. That trade-off is necessary: if you need to embed pages in a presentation, share them as a slideshow, or process them in image analysis, you need pixels, not vectors. But once rasterized, the text layer is gone. The output is indistinguishable from a photograph of the page.
Scale determines both clarity and file size
A page at 1× scale renders at 72 DPI — fine for small previews, but on modern screens text may look soft. At 2× scale (the default) you get roughly 144 DPI: an 8.5" × 11" page becomes about 1224 × 1584 pixels. At 4×, the same page hits 2448 × 3168 pixels — suitable for print, but a long document produces very large files. Quality sliders apply only to JPEG and WebP; PNG is always lossless and therefore larger.
Download individual pages or batch them into a ZIP
Each rendered page is available as a separate download, labelled by source file and page number. Or render a multi-file batch and download everything as one ZIP: report_pages.zip containing report_page_001.jpg, report_page_002.jpg, and so on. Filenames include the source document so pages do not collide when you convert several PDFs in one job.
The output is not searchable or selectable
Because the output is a picture of text rather than text, you cannot search the images or select and copy from them. If you need the words, use a text extractor or OCR instead. Can I search the text in the output?
No. The output is a rasterized image of the PDF page — a picture of text, not text itself. If you need to search or copy text from the pages, use an OCR tool or a text-extraction tool instead of this one.
What is the largest file I can convert?
Each PDF can be up to 100 MB. There is no strict limit on how many files you batch at once, but rendering time depends on total page count and scale factor. A 4× scale on a very long PDF will take noticeably longer and produce much larger images than 1×.
Why does the default scale show around 144 DPI?
The default 2× scale balances clarity against file size. It suits viewing on screens, printing at smaller sizes, and embedding in presentations. Higher scales (3×, 4×) target print-quality output; 1× reduces file size but often looks blurry on modern high-density displays.
Do I get separate files or a ZIP?
Both are available. You can download individual pages directly, or collect every page into a ZIP archive. When rendering multiple PDFs at once, the ZIP contains all pages from all files with filenames that include the source document to avoid collisions.
