Compare PDF text content word by word

This tool extracts and compares the text content of two PDFs, highlighting additions in green and deletions in red with strikethrough. It runs a word-level diff algorithm in your browser, comparing all pages as one continuous text stream and reporting word counts for changes. Use this for contract redlines, policy revisions, and document comparisons where text differences matter more than layout.

Text-based, not visual comparison

This tool is text-based, not visual. It finds every word that was added, deleted, or changed. It will not detect moved images, font changes, layout shifts, or any visual differences. Scanned PDFs have no text layer, so there is nothing to compare—use PDF OCR first to extract readable text. If you need visual or layout change detection, use a visual diff tool instead.

Document size limits and precision

The tool uses word-level longest-common-subsequence (LCS) comparison, which works with full precision up to 4,000 words per document. Larger documents fall back to line-by-line comparison, which may report entire sections as changed even if only small parts changed. For very large documents, split them by section and compare chunks separately, or use a text diff tool for code-like content.
