About this tool

Your title and description might not appear as written

Google rewrites roughly two-thirds of title tags in search results, swapping your input for something it thinks is more relevant to the query. The same goes for meta descriptions — Google often pulls text directly from your page body instead. A SERP preview cannot predict which version will appear, because Google's rewrite decision depends on the search query and your actual page content, not the tags alone.

See what you're actually submitting

Paste your URL, title, and description into this preview and watch it render desktop (600px wide) and mobile (380px) layouts. The preview shows the exact text you've written, formatted at 20px bold blue (Google's standard link color), with your breadcrumb URL above and description below. Title length is capped at roughly 60 characters on desktop and 50 on mobile; description at 160 characters on desktop, 120 on mobile. These are character approximations — actual cutoff depends on pixel width.

A preview is input, not destiny

Use this tool to catch obvious problems: titles that truncate mid-word, descriptions that are blank or misleading, URLs with ugly parameters. But do not assume the preview will match the live result. Google may rewrite your title to include your brand name, your description to match the query that brought someone in, or both. What matters more is that your page itself is well-written and relevant — if it is, Google will usually find something better to show than your tags anyway.

No breadcrumb, favicon, or date

The preview renders breadcrumb navigation (domain + first three path segments), title, and description only. It does not render favicons, page dates, star ratings, review snippets, or other SERP features that Google may display for certain pages. Rich snippets and featured snippets depend on schema markup, not on what you see here. To work on the description alone, see the Meta Description Preview, or the Title Tag Length Checker for pixel-accurate title measurement.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about the SERP Preview Tool (Google Desktop + Mobile).

Will Google display my title and description exactly as I wrote them?

Probably not. Google rewrites approximately two-thirds of title tags and frequently replaces meta descriptions with text extracted from your page, based on what it thinks matches the search query. A preview shows your submitted text, not Google's final choice.

Why do the character limits differ between desktop and mobile?

Desktop search displays results at 600px wide; mobile at 380px. Narrower screens truncate earlier. A 60-character title fits desktop but may truncate on mobile around 50 characters. Similarly, desktop descriptions go to 160 characters; mobile cuts off around 120.

What won't this preview show?

This tool shows the basic title, breadcrumb, and description only. It does not render favicons, review stars, dates, video thumbnails, or other rich snippets. Those features depend on schema markup and page type, not on your meta tags.

Should I write the longest possible title and description?

Not always. A clear, concise 120-character description often converts better than a padded 160-character one. Titles around 50–55 characters usually fit without truncation. Prioritize clarity and relevance — if Google likes your page, it may rewrite your tags anyway, so don't optimize purely for length.
